Hey Everyone,

Don't worry - it's not time to post your final stories yet. I just wanted to open this page early to give you an idea of what to keep in mind when you write your story. These are the things that I will be looking for when I mark your story:

-a strong hook

-a logical plot that has a climax

-an interesting main character that the reader gets to know well

-length of 4+ pages (typed) (This is a goal that I hope you can acheive, but please don't spend all of your time to try to do this. After your writing in class lesson, please spend a maximum of one hour outside of class before the presentation lesson.)

In addition, here are some standards which are used in marking at Dulwich that you should keep in mind to aim to meet when writing:

'I can include relevant and imaginative details.'

'I establish a clear and consistent viewpoint.'

'I know why I am writing and create different features to interest the reader.'

'My sentences are clearly organised into paragraphs.'

'I use devisces within paragraphs to link ideas, eg use of pronouns, connectives.'

'I build up detail in my sentences.'

'I try to use a wide vocabulary to create different effects.'

If you have any questions, just ask me in class or send me a message.

Thanks!

Miss Gunter
